Andrew Hoinacki

Leading Drummer

Andrew Hoinacki is a Chicago area native. He learned to drum in the Midlothian Juniors, advanced to play nine seasons with the Midlothian Scottish in Grade 2 and then moved on to lead his first corps with Chicago Caledonian also in Grade 2. He was a founding member of the City of Chicago Pipe Band in the summer of 2003 but departed later that year for opportunities in California where he served as the Leading Drummer of the Los Angeles Scots in Grade 1 and James J. Coyne Memorial in Grade 2. Resettled in the Midwest, he returned to the City of Chicago Pipe Band in early 2013 as the educational director for the Chicago Academy of Piping and Drumming. When the band reorganized in the summer of 2016, Andrew became the leading drummer of the City of Chicago Pipe Band serving as the drumming director for all components of the organization. Andrew has been teaching pipe band drumming to bands and soloists since his teens, is accredited as an adjudicator for drumming and ensemble by the Midwest Pipe Band Association, and provides a wide range of services to the pipe band music community as the owner of AR2 Drumming Studio.
