Steve Moore began learning the bagpipes at age 13, while living in Nova Scotia, Canada. While in the Army Cadets of Canada program, he first started learning with the Atlantic Region Cadet Pipes and Drums. Steve has had the fortune of playing with a variety of bands in Canada and the US, as well as having instructed the Atlantic Region cadets for many years, both in weekly lessons and summer camps. Steve accepted a Scottish Heritage scholarship to Lyon College and is the first student to complete the Music/Scottish Arts curriculum, which was then a minor. Steve played with the Lyon College Pipe Band when they placed 2nd at both the Scottish Pipe Band Championships and the World Pipe Band Championships in 2001. He also took the opportunity to receive a week of lessons at the National Piping Centre. Steve has had the pleasure of teaching youth and adults for many years and has watched as his students have gone on to play in high-caliber bands. He has also had the fortune to receive lessons and workshops from many highly regarded pipers and has played in two Grade 1 pipe bands, the City of Chicago Pipe Band and the 78th Fraser Highlanders. In his professional life, Steve is an IT engineer for a firm in downtown Chicago.
