Pipe Major
Patrick Lynch has played bagpipes since he was very young. Originally taught by his father, he has gone on to play in professional grade solos and lead a Grade 1 pipe band. After formative years competing in other local bands, Patrick was instrumental in founding the City of Chicago Pipe Band in 2003 as its manager and later became Pipe Major. He led the band to the 2010 North American Championship in Grade 2 and the 2012 United States Championship in Grade 1. Most recently he competed with the Los Angeles Scots in Grade 1 at the World Pipe Band Championships in 2014-16 and in 2017 resumed a full-time role leading the reorganized City of Chicago Pipe Band. Patrick lives in Chicago with his wife and daughter and is a professional fundraiser for one of the city’s largest nonprofits.
