Allie DeLonay

Tenor Drummer

After playing bassoon and tenor sax in middle school and thoroughly disliking it, Allie decided to become a percussionist in high school where she took a particular liking to marching snare. Although she had hoped to join the University of Wisconsin – Madison marching band as a snare drummer, her busy college schedule didn’t allow for it. After college, she decided to join an alternative rock band where she pretended like she knew what she was doing on the drum set for a year. After inevitably disbanding, she took a 6-year drum hiatus until her husband said, “you’re a musician and I like bagpipes – please learn them, k thanks” and found a local pipe band. She mentioned to the Pipe Major that she wanted to learn pipes, but somehow ended up on drums. Allie has played snare in the Grade 4 Madison Pipes & Drums since the summer of 2020 and joined the Grade 2 City of Chicago Pipe Band as a tenor drummer in December 2021 and was appointed Lead Tenor starting with the 2023 season.
