Joe Coakley, originally from the south side of Chicago, has been playing the bagpipes for 28 years. He spent 8 years with the Chicago Stockyards Kilty Band, played with the City of Warrington Pipe Band while living in England, and then was a founding member of the Chicago Caledonian Pipe Band playing with the band in Grade 3 and 2 from 1998 to 2005. Returning to the world of pipe band competition after 12 years, Joe joined the City of Chicago Pipe Band for the 2017 season.
