Rich McGuire

Piper

Rich McGuire began his piping career in Northwest Indiana under the instruction of Brent Van Norman.  A few life changes got in the way, and he stopped playing for a period of 10 years.  In 2009, he began playing again with the Pipes and Drums of the Lake County Indiana Sheriff’s Department.  While playing with them, he had the honor and privilege of piping every year at the National Law Enforcement Memorial in Washington D.C. as part of the annual Police Week memorial services.  He moved on to pipe with the Bagpipes and Drums of the Emerald Society, Chicago Police Department in 2013.  He continued piping with them off and on until 2018.  In November 2018, he came to the City of Chicago Pipe Band to develop his piping skills in the Grade 4 band. His hope is to one day play with the Grade 2 band.  In addition, Rich also pipes with his agency’s national honor guard.
